Independent Conformity Assessment for Global Markets
As a designated Notified and Certification Body under multiple international directives and agreements, we are authorized to perform conformity assessments and issue approvals for defined regulatory frameworks.
Notified Body According to the EMC Directive 2014/20/EU
Phoenix Testlab can voluntary be involved as "Notified Body EMC". In the case of product variants for which, e.g. type testing of the variations according to European standards is not economical, Phoenix Testlab can carry out the assessment of compliance with the essential requirements of the EMC Directive for the entire product family. This also applies to devices which, due to their size or location, cannot be tested according to EMC standards.
After a positive assessment of conformity by the Notified Body, manufacturers receive an EU type examination certificate which certifies compliance with the essential requirements of the Directive. Without this certificate, a manufacturer can at most only assume that the essential requirements have been met.
Notified body according to the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU
As a Notified Body for the Radio Equipment Directive (RED 2014/53/EU), Phoenix Testlab provides expert assessment of whether radio equipment complies with the essential requirements with regard to effective and efficient spectrum use, EMC, safety, health and other requirements.
The basis for the assessment is the Technical Documentation (TD) of a device. According to the RED Directive, the TD contains all technical information about the equipment including test reports on EMC, effective use of the radio spectrum, electrical safety and health.
Notified body according to the Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU (MED)
Phoenix Testlab is officially recognized as a Notified body MED (Marine Euqipment Directive) by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for products of the navigation equipment and radio equipment. The MED regulates the procedure of approval for marine equipment on ships under European flags.
If your product is listed under the Marine Equipment Directive, it is subject to a conformity assessment procedure, which includes the approval by a Notified Body.
The approved marine equipment can be installed and used on any ship under an EU flag without further national authorization. The manufacturer can affix the wheel icon ( "Wheel Mark") as a mark of conformity.
According to the MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreement) between the EU and the US, the Notified Body Phoenix Testlab may also grant an approval number of the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Another approval process by the USCG in the US is no longer necessary. For radio-technical equipment is an additional approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States necessary, which can also be issued by Phoenix Testlab.
Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) for the USA for the EMC and telecommunications (radio) sectors
Manufacturers wishing to export products to the USA can take advantage of the US-EU MRA. The testing laboratories and certification bodies of Phoenix Testlab are recognized by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under this MRA. They can test and certify these products for the US market in Germany.
Phoenix Testlab is recognized as a Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) to approve products, from PCs to radio equipment, according to the "Certification" procedure and to issue an FCC Grant / FCC ID.
Phoenix Testlab offers you as a German US-CAB and US-TCB access to the USA market for your products.
