Certification management in shipbuilding

Efficient coordination between project, testing and approval

In shipbuilding, the certification of technical products is a complex process. In addition to extensive testing, the specific requirements of the classification societies must be taken into account, interpreted and correctly implemented. Structured and experienced certification management is crucial for a smooth project flow and ensures fast access to the maritime market.

As an accredited test laboratory, we not only carry out the required tests but also support our customers throughout the entire certification process. We take on the central coordination between the classification society, the customer and the test laboratory—ensuring an optimally aligned, efficient and predictable project execution.

Central interface for complex classification requirements

The members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS)—including ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, RINA and others—generally pursue comparable objectives. However, their type approval and type testing requirements differ in their specific implementation and depend on:

  • the installation location on board

  • environmental influences and EMC conditions

These similarities and differences must be identified at an early stage and sensibly aligned. This is exactly where our strength lies:

  • analysis and comparison of the respective class requirements

  • harmonisation of test requirements across multiple classification societies

  • planning of a test programme that covers all relevant specifications

  • avoidance of duplicate tests and unnecessary repetitions

Our goal is to bring all requirements “under one roof”—technically sound, standards-compliant and economically efficient.

Our services in certification management

  • Execution of the required tests in our own test laboratory

  • Central project coordination between the customer, classification society/societies and internal departments—if required, also involving cooperation partners for specialised tests

  • Coordination of the test programme with the classification society or, in the case of multiple class requirements, alignment across several societies

  • Support throughout all project phases—from planning to certificate issuance

  • Relief for our customers through clear communication and transparent processes

Your time is valuable—greater planning reliability and fewer points of friction.

Thanks to our experience in the maritime environment, we speak the language of the classification societies and understand what matters when assessing maritime equipment.

We understand how classification societies evaluate maritime equipment — and ensure your product meets those expectations efficiently and reliably.

We're always here to listen.

Our experts are happy to assist you. Let’s work together to determine the next steps.
