Certification management in shipbuilding
Efficient coordination between project, testing and approval
In shipbuilding, the certification of technical products is a complex process. In addition to extensive testing, the specific requirements of the classification societies must be taken into account, interpreted and correctly implemented. Structured and experienced certification management is crucial for a smooth project flow and ensures fast access to the maritime market.
As an accredited test laboratory, we not only carry out the required tests but also support our customers throughout the entire certification process. We take on the central coordination between the classification society, the customer and the test laboratory—ensuring an optimally aligned, efficient and predictable project execution.
Central interface for complex classification requirements
The members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS)—including ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, RINA and others—generally pursue comparable objectives. However, their type approval and type testing requirements differ in their specific implementation and depend on:
the installation location on board
environmental influences and EMC conditions
These similarities and differences must be identified at an early stage and sensibly aligned. This is exactly where our strength lies:
analysis and comparison of the respective class requirements
harmonisation of test requirements across multiple classification societies
planning of a test programme that covers all relevant specifications
avoidance of duplicate tests and unnecessary repetitions
Our goal is to bring all requirements “under one roof”—technically sound, standards-compliant and economically efficient.
