To avoid any kind of problems and incompatibilities during commissioning and continuous operation in automation systems, customers require a very high functional quality standard from IO devices as well as compliance with the relevant standard.

For this reason, PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) has developed an IO device test that may only be carried out by authorized PI test laboratories. Testlab, with its long-standing experience in testing Interbus modules, is one of these laboratories. All required tests are performed professionally by highly trained engineers. The IO device test can also be carried out in parallel with the development process.

In addition, Testlab offers testing services in the areas of EMC, environmental simulation (e.g. vibration and temperature), radio, and electrical safety, as well as international approval management.

The complete PROFINET IO test is divided into five mandatory sections and one optional service. Only if the IO device successfully passes all tests is the customer eligible to apply for certification with PI.

The five IO mandatory sections mentioned are the test cases specified and required by PI for a complete PROFINET conformity assessment.
